Cryogenic Limited

2.6 Tesla Cryogen-Free Mu3e System for Muon Decay Study

The magnet system uses four controllable solenoids to generate a homogeneous 2.6 T field over a large cylindrical volume. Varied coil currents enable precise field profile adjustments. A 25-tonne steel shield surrounding the magnet and cryostat redirects magnetic flux, minimizing stray fields. Accessible through semi-circular steel doors, the room temperature bore is supported by two aluminum cradles with 10 mm height adjustment. The 28.5-tonne system utilizes four two-stage Gifford-McMahon cryocoolers to maintain coil temperatures at 3.2 K. Magnet coils are wound with NbTi conductor and supported by an aluminum former. www.cryogenic.co.uk
